Our new anti-tamper feature for laptops

In the world of online shopping, trust is essential. Especially when investing in expensive devices like laptops. We understand how important it is for our customers to know that their purchase will reach them safely and unscathed. This need for safety and security has inspired us to introduce our latest security feature, which is based on an idea of this article (last paragraph). Among firmware security integration by Dasharo coreboot firmware, we can also apply physical changes to our laptops.

A few important notes to clarify:

• This option is not mandatory. In fact, it is a paid option in our configurator.
• This option has nothing to do with warranty. The warranty will still apply even if this option is chosen.
• This option will not affect our right-to repair philosophy, as it is still possible to make repairs and reapply the glitter. See also this video.

What is the anti-tamper package?

The anti-tamper package is an innovative addition to our laptops that ensures the integrity of your purchase. But what does this feature really entail?

1. Glitter substance on the screws: when ordering a laptop, you can now choose to apply our special glitter substance to the screws of your device. This subtle but effective modification makes it immediately obvious if someone has tried to open or modify the laptop before it is delivered to you.

2. Anti-tamper tape: in addition to the glitter substance, we also apply anti-tamper tape to crucial points of the laptop packaging. If this tape is broken, you immediately know there has been tampering during transport. The tape cannot be re-applied and the tape leaves a clear ‘OPENED’ sign.
   

3. PGP signed pictures of all screws via Proton Mail (optional): we can send you photographs of all screws via Proton Mail, after applying the glitter substance. This way, you can check the glitter pattern on all screws to verify that these are the same as on the laptop that you receive. By sending these pictures from a Proton Mail account to another Proton Mail account, the content of the emails and the attached pictures are PGP signed. This increases the security of the sent files.

We will ensure your laptop is handled and secured with the utmost care, so you can enjoy your new purchase with peace of mind. The message of the anti-tamper tape

But what if someone tries to remove the anti-tamper tape? Don’t worry, we’ve thought of that too. When the tape is removed, a message is left behind. In clear letters, the tape leaves an OPENED sign on the box. This means that if there have been attempts to open the package, you will know immediately.

This makes our anti-tamper package not only a security measure, but also a powerful symbol of our commitment to ensuring that your laptop order reaches you safe and sound.
