mahe Hello, thank you for opening this discussion!
We would love to offer AMD laptops, but the sad reality for now is that we have to stick to hardware from Clevo, our ODM provider. This is because we are a small company (3 employees) and we cannot meet the minimal order quantity of 10,000 units for individual hardware changes.
Currently, Clevo doesn't offer any AMD model. As soon as they do, we will definitely offer this.
Instead of the very latest hardware every year again, we choose another strategy in which we skip every second generation. This allows us to have a smoother spare parts management and better availability. Also, we have more resources per laptop for firmware development, allowing us to increase the laptop's security of current models, rather than releasing new models every 9-12 months. Honestly, the difference between DDR4 and DDR5 is not very thunderous.
In Q2-2024, we will get new models: the NovaCustom V54 and V56 Series. There isn't much known yet about these laptops, but these are 14.0" and 16.0" laptop models respectively, featuring a 16:10 screen ratio, QHD+ screen resolution (optional), DDR5 memory, optional Nvidia graphics and an Intel Meteor Lake processor. We will apply them for Dasharo coreboot firmware and Intel ME disabling, just like the current Dasharo coreboot models. We will also investigate the feasibility to get these models Qubes OS certified. Stay tuned by signing up for our newsletter and follow us on social media!
